A high-end, dream backyard using antique stone at a private estate in Washington, D.C.
You never get a second chance to make a first impression
OK folks, feast your eyes on some incredibly tasteful pictures from a recent project in Washington, DC. This private estate is a great use of our finest historically reclaimed stone products – used granite curbing, salvaged jumbo and regulation cobblestones and antique stone building block. The hardscape and landscape design creates a space that is elegant and classy with an authentic, historic feel.
The front entryway sets the tone. A mix of salvaged jumbo and regulation granite cobblestones are used as pavers for the walkways, entry sidewalks and driveway. These antique stones are aesthetically pleasing for all visitors to the estate. Adding even more value to the property is the landscape architect/designers use of a variety of installation methods – a herringbone pattern for the driveway apron and the a running bond with a soldier course cobblestone edging for the remainder of the project.

Beauty in our own Backyard
After entering the estate, visitors realize the backyard is also a thing of beauty. Features include an antique stone patio with used cobblestone edging, granite curbing steps, authentic used stone retaining walls, a fire pit, a pool and lighting elements for high quality night ambiance. All the reclaimed stone paver products improve the hardscape and pair well with the landscaping around the backyard, creating an entertainment experience for all guests that is second to none.

With a cherry on top
Every elite project has a feature that serves as the focal point… this job happened to have several. The most unique design feature is the “changing room” for the pool. The owners of the estate had inspiration photos of round structures with antique stone veneer that they wanted to implement into the patio design. The result was a small circular stone hut for guests to change before entering the pool. An incredibly charming design element that put a cherry on top of an incredibly fun project!
Our team at Experienced Brick and Stone loves working with homeowners, contractors, landscape architects and designers in making their dream projects a reality. While this project had a little bit of everything when it comes to reclaimed materials across the entire property, we hope it inspires your dream project!
